A spell of fine weather
A period of pleasant, clear, or sunny weather.
Oppressive heat
Heat that is extremely uncomfortable, burdensome, or difficult to bear.

The intensity of the heat has decreased or lessened in force.
Chilled to the marrow
An expression meaning to feel extremely cold, as if the cold has reached the inside of one's bones.

Throwing objects, such as snowballs, at one another with force and frequency.

The process of a young bird emerging from its egg.
Rear
To care for and raise young birds or animals until they are fully grown.
Slippery
A condition of a surface, like the ground in winter, that is smooth or wet enough to cause someone to slide or fall.
Roasted alive
An idiomatic expression describing the feeling of being extremely hot, as if being cooked.

A state where the surface of a body of water, like a river or lake, is completely covered in ice.
