The richest color scheme that uses four colors arranged into two complementary color pairs.

The most common form of painting, involving applying color to a board or canvas fixed on an upright support.

Telon Painting

A backdrop or background for the stage used for komedya, sarswela, and sinakulo.

Pop Art

An art form that employs vibrant and bold colors to emphasize consumer-driven and attention-grabbing subjects.

Genre Painting

A theme of painting that portrays people in daily activities.

Still Life

A painting that depicts natural or man-made objects forming a composition in a natural setting.

Order of National Artists

Created by Presidential Proclamation No. 1001, s. 1972 to give recognition and prestige to Filipinos who made outstanding contributions to Philippine arts and letters.

Solomon Saprid

An artist known for preserving culture through paintings and sculptures of Philippine folklore, including his sculpture Tikbalang.

Ang Kiukok

An artist whose works expressed angst and anger in paintings like Payaso and Ina at Anak, as well as hopelessness in The Crucifixion.

Napoleon V. Abueva

The father of modern Philippine sculpture who sculpted Kiss of Judas and was the pioneer in moving out of the classic style to abstract experimental modern art.

Fernando Cueto Amorsolo

Dubbed the grand old man of the Philippine art scene, known for depicting late 1800s to 1950s society and discovering natural light on canvas.

Victorio Edades

A master in Philippine paintings who received a silver medal after taking two head studies and painted Supplication.

Juan Luna

A famous artist who produced works in romantic and early impressionist styles, renowned for Spoliarium.

Guillermo Tolentino

A renowned artist who created the landmark sculpture Oblation at the University of the Philippines and The Bonifacio Monument.

Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan

Also known as the National Living Treasures Award, given by the Philippine government to traditional folk artists displaying high technical and artistic excellence.

Panagabel

The Ilocano tradition of loom weaving using a device to create fabric by interlacing threads.

Inabel

A traditional handwoven textile that showcases the intricate craftsmanship of the Ilocano people.

Binakol

Traditional Ilocano woven patterns including inuritan (geometric design), kusikos (whirlpool), and sinansabong (flowers).

Magdalena Gamayo

A prominent Ilocano weaver from Pinili, Ilocos Norte, recognized on November 8, 2012, as a National Living Treasure for her inabel weaving.

Teofilo Garcia

A National Living Treasure from San Quintin, Abra, recognized on November 8, 2012, for handcrafting tabungaw hats.

Tabungaw

A type of Ilocano headwear crafted from a gourd and often decorated with nito and bamboo fibers.

Uwang Ahadas

A Yakan folk musician from Lamitan, Basilan, recognized as a National Living Treasure in 2000 for mastering traditional instruments like gabbang and agung.

Kwintangan

Considered the most important Yakan instrument, traditionally reserved for women, which Uwang Ahadas mastered by age 20.

Eduardo Mutuc

A metalsmith and sculptor from Apalit, Pampanga, who received the GAMABA award in 2004 for his mastery of pinukpuk.

Pinukpuk

A metalcraft technique involving stamping embellishments on metal sheets such as silver, wood, and bronze.

Ginaw Bilog

A Hanunuo Mangyan poet from Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro, conferred the GAMABA award on December 17, 1993, for preserving ambahan poetry.

Ambahan

A traditional poetry form of the Hanunuo Mangyan featuring seven-syllable lines, inscribed on bamboo strips using the Baybayin script.
