Homogenous catalyst
A homogenous catalyst is in the same phase as the reactants
Process
Catalyst reacts with a reactant to form a reactive intermediate species
Intermediate species reacts to form product faster than original reactant and regenerates catalyst
Iodide ion and sodium thiosulphate ion
Original reaction would be slow as both ions are negative and would repel
Autocatalysis
When the reaction is catalysed by one of the products
e.g. Manganese Oxide ions
