Piston
A cylindrical object with a solid crown at the top, goes up and down with the cylinders
Piston Rings
Seals the piston to the cylinder and prevents gas from leaking out. Also stops oil from getting into the combustion chamber
Cylinder
Houses a piston and other components, The piston and the air fuel mixture work together to transfer energy
Cylinder Head
part of the cylinder located above the piston. Where you find the combustion chamber as well as the intake and exhaust valves and ports
Combustion Chamber
Inside the cylinder head right above the piston that air fuel mixture combusts inside of
Intake Valves
Lets the air fuel mix enter the combustion chamber and seals after the mixture is inside
Exhaust Valves
lets waste gases exit the combustion chamber after combustion
Crankshaft
Turns a pistons up and down motion into a rotary motion
Camshaft
What opens and closes the intake and exhaust valves, half speed of the crankshaft
Wrist Pins
Connects the piston to the connecting rod
Connecting Rods
Connects each piston and wrist pin assembly to the crankshaft
Oil Pump
Pushes oil through the engine
Oil Galleries
Pathways that oil takes through the engine
Oil Pan
The reservoir where the oil pools at the bottom of the engine
Pickup tube and screen
Send oil into the oil pump, and the screen filters out solid materials that could clog up the system
Oil Filter
Cleans out contaminants before the oil gets circulated back through the engine
