Emotionally Healthy Person
An individual who expresses emotions in a healthy manner, remains realistic about themselves and their surroundings, and successfully meets the demands of life.
Positive Outlook
The practice of viewing situations in a positive light, which offers greater satisfaction than dwelling on the negative.
Valuing Diversity
Recognizing and accepting that you will not always be in the same situation or around the same people throughout life.
Maslow's Hierarchy
A developmental framework of basic stages working from the bottom up, requiring one set of needs to be met before moving on to the next set.
Survival Needs
The most basic level of human needs in Maslow's hierarchy, which includes food and water.
Social Needs
Needs involving feelings of acceptance and finding where one belongs, which are pursued once survival needs are met.
Self-Actualization
The final stage in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, usually occurring much later in life.
