Platelet inhibitor, NSAID, Anti-inflammatory
What is aspirin’s (ASA) mechanism of action?
Prevents platelets from clumping, antipyretic and analgesic
What are indications for aspirin (ASA)?
New onset of chest pain, relief of mild pain, headache, fever
What are contraindications of aspirin (ASA)?
Hypersensitivity, recent/active bleeding disorders
What are adverse reactions of aspirin (ASA)?
Reye’s syndrome, Nausea, GI Bleeding, Anaphylaxis, Epigastric Distress
What is the dose for aspirin (ASA)?
Oral tablet 162-325 mg. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEDS.
What is the class of nitroglycerin?
Vasodilator, Nitrate and Antianginal
What is the mechanism for nitroglycerin?
Smooth muscle relaxant. Dilation of arterioles
What is the indication for nitroglycerin?
Ischemic chest pain, CHF
What are the contraindications for nitroglycerin?
Hypovolemia, intracranial bleeding/head injury, hypotension (SBP less than 100mm Hg), ED meds within last 48 hours
What are adverse reactions for nitroglycerin?
Headache, Dizziness, Dry mouth, Reflex tachycardia, Flushing/Diaphoresis, Muscle twitching, Hypotension
What is the dosage for nitroglycerin?
For Chest pain TABLET OR SL: .4 mg, every 3-5 min (1.2 max)
For CHF TABLET OR SL: 1.2 mg SL. One dose. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEDS.
