Loose fibrous connective tissue
Most widely distributed of all connective tissue types. It is the glue that helps keep the organs of the body together.
Aeriolar Tissue
Consist of webs of fibers and a variety of cells embedded in a loose matrix of soft, sticky gel
Collagen
A strong but flexible, fibrous protein
Elastin
Stretchy proteins that make up collagen
Elastic fibers
Helped tissues returned to their original length after having been stretched
Fascia
Primarily composed of aerial tissue and help helps behind the skin, muscle, muscles, bones, and other organs of the body together
Adipose tissue
Also called fat tissue and it stores lipids
Reticular tissue
Another type of fibers connective tissue that has thin, delicate webs of collagen fibers
Dense fibrous connective tissue
Consist of mainly thick bundles of strong collagen
Bone
Hard because it has dense packaging of collagen, bundles, and crusted with mineral crystals containing calcium
Osteons
Also called Haversian systems which compact bone is made up of
Chondrocytes
Located in many tiny spaces distributed throughout the matrix making tissue look like Swiss cheese
Hyaline cartilage
Has only a moderate amount of collagen in its gel matrix, giving it a Transolution, glass like appearance, means glassy
Fibrocartilage
The strongest and most durable type of cartilage
Elastic cartilage
Contains few collagen fibers but large numbers of very fine elastic fibers that give the matrix material a high degree of flexibility
Hematopoietic tissue
The blood light connective tissue found in the red marrow cavities of bones and in organs, such as the spleen, tonsils, and lymph nodes
Skeletal muscle
Striated muscle called voluntary because wield control of this kind of muscle contractions is possible
Cardiac muscle
Forms the walls of the heart, and the regular, but involuntary contractions of cardiac muscle produce the heartbeat
Smooth muscle
Said to be involuntary because it is not under conscious or willful control
Nervous tissue
Controls body functions in coordinates rapid communication between body structures

Impulse conducting units of the system
Glia
Specialized connect, connecting and support supporting cells
Cell body
All neurons are characterized by this and it has two types of processes
Axon
One of the processes and it transmits a nerve impulse away from the cell body
Dendrites
Another one of the processes which carry impulses toward the cell body

A dense fibrous mass

Un unusually thick scar that develops in the lower layer of the skin
