Hypothesis

Ex. If seed grows on …
Theory

Ex. Evolution theory
ethics
Ensures honesty and responsibility in scientific research
objectivity helps scientists make conclusions based on evidence rather than personal beliefs
Accuracy
How close a measurement is to the true value
ex. object's true mass is 50 g and you measure 49.9 g
Precision
How close repeated (consisteincy measurements are to each other.
ex. measure the same object and get 25.1 g, 25.1 g, and 25.2 g
Significant figures importnace
show how precise a measurement is and prevent reporting more digits than the measuring tool can accurately measure
Read measurements to the proper significant figures
Record all certain digits + 1 estimated digit.
Ruler marked in cm → write 2.3 cm, not just 2 cm.
Ruler marked in mm → write 18.3 mm.
Graduated cylinder marked every 1 mL → write 24.6 mL.
