Resting Phase
The phase where the neuron is at its resting membrane potential.
Depolarization Phase
The phase where the membrane potential becomes more positive due to Na+ ions moving into the cell.
Repolarization Phase
The phase where the membrane potential returns to its resting value due to K+ ions leaving the cell.
Hyperpolarization Phase
The phase where the membrane potential becomes more negative than the resting potential.
Return to Resting
Leakage channels help bring charge back to resting. Na+/K+ pump helps return ions to their original position
Threshold
The membrane potential at which an action potential is triggered.
