General Properties of gases
fill up volume (expand)
free space
are uniform and mix in evenly in a container
What unit of tempeature is alwasy used
what does it specifcally represent
Kelvin is used because it can never be negative
it represents movement
units for pressure and conversons
1 atm = 101.3 kPa = 760 mmHg (torr)
how does a barometer work
presssure of the atmosphere pushes down on murucery pushing it up into the vaccum cube
gas properties list
V - volume
T- tempeture
n- moles
P- pressure
What happens if gas is added to a closed container?
What if its removed?
How is # of particles and pressure coorilatated if other factors are the same.
Adding will increase the pressure because more particles will collide more, creating more pressure
less particles will reduce pressure because less particles will crash into each other
they are directly coorilated, so if moles are doubles, pressure will double
What happens if there is too much pressure in a container
it can explode, like a balloon
Gas Equillibrum
gas pressure will want to even out from inside and outside
particles move from high to low
What happens if size of container is changed?
How is it coorilated.
