What is the basis of research designs?

to determine whether treatment (IV) caused change in tbx (DV)

What is a functional relationship?

proof that the tbx only changes when IV is manipulated & results are replicable

What is ABAB Reversal Design?

• repeats base treatment (AB) twice for 1 bx (ABAB)

• reversion to baseline (AB = no treatment) then reintroducing modification (IV)

• A = baseline and B = intervention

What are multiple baseline designs used for?

multiple clients, multiple target behaviors, or measuring a behavior across settings

What are across subject designs?

2 or more clients with AB repetition

What are across behaviors designs?

AB repetition for 2 or more behaviors of 1 client

What are across settings designs?

AB repetition in 2 or settings of 1 client

What are nonconcurrent multiple baseline across subjects designs?

• baseline data is collected at different times for each client w/ different numbers of data points

• functional relationship = the 2 compare conditions split

What are changing criterion designs?

• AB, multiple goals are used during treatment

• success defined when client’s bx changes w/ new goal
