Information Holder
Any person, group or organisation that collects, stores or uses information.
Individual Category
An information holder category consisting of a single person, such as a teacher or freelancer.
Business Category
An information holder category consisting of a commercial organisation, such as a retailer or bank.
Education Category
An information holder category consisting of a school, college or university.
Government Category
An information holder category consisting of a local or national authority, such as a council or tax authority.
Charity Category
An information holder category consisting of a non-profit organisation, such as an aid charity or food bank.
Healthcare Category
An information holder category consisting of a medical provider, such as a hospital or GP clinic.
Community Category
An information holder category consisting of a local club or group, such as a sports club or society.
Personalisation
A purpose of data usage that includes recommendations, targeted ads, and tailored services.
Decision Making
A purpose of data usage that includes school admissions and loan approvals.
Communication
A purpose of data usage that includes newsletters and appointment reminders.
Service Improvement
A purpose of data usage that includes feedback analysis and usage tracking.
Security & Verification
A purpose of data usage that includes identity checks and fraud protection.
Collect (Data Journey Stage 1)
The first stage of the data journey, involving gathering data through forms, apps, websites, and sensors.
Store (Data Journey Stage 2)
The second stage of the data journey, involving keeping data in databases, the cloud, or local servers.
Process (Data Journey Stage 3)
The third stage of the data journey, involving sorting, analysing, and categorising data.
Use (Data Journey Stage 4)
The fourth stage of the data journey, applying data for decisions, personalisation, and communication.
