Involves establishing a clear vision; sharing the vision with others; providing information, knowledge and methods; coordinating conflicting interests.

Engineering Leadership

An approach that influences others to effectively collaborate and solve problems. Requires technical expertise and the ability to synthesize diverse expertise and skillsets.

Leadership (Process Definition)

A process of influencing people to accomplish the mission, inspiring their commitment, and improving the organization.

Good Leadership

Inspiring and motivating a team to achieve common goals, especially in challenging situations. Key attributes include being visionary, decisive, empathetic, and accountable.

Poor Leadership

Failing to guide, inspire, or support a team effectively, leading to confusion, poor morale, and potentially disastrous outcomes. Key traits include being reactive, disconnected, and blame-shifting.

Good Management

Efficiently planning, organizing, leading, and controlling resources to achieve goals while managing risks. Key attributes include being proactive, organized, safety-conscious, and communicative.

Poor Management

Failing to plan, organize, or control resources effectively, often resulting in missed deadlines, budget overruns, and safety issues. Key traits include being reactive, disorganized, and cost-driven at the expense of safety.

A management system known for its efficiency and focus on quality and safety, serving as an example of good management that led to Toyota's reputation for reliability.
