A form of energy related to electric charges. It originates directly from these electric charges.
Electricity
These can be either positive or negative.
Electric charges
A tiny particle with a negative charge.
Electron
A tiny particle with a positive charge.
Proton
Charges that are identical (such as two negative charges or two positive charges) repel or push away from each other.
Like charges
Charges that are opposite (a positive and a negative charge) attract or pull toward each other.
Unlike charges
This type of electricity occurs when electric charges stay in one place instead of moving.
Static electricity
This type of electricity occurs when electric charges move or flow along a path.
Current electricity
These are materials that allow electricity to flow through them easily.
Conductors
Materials that do not allow electricity to flow through them easily
Insulators
An injury that occurs when an electric current passes directly through the body
Electric shock
A device that consumes electrical power in order to perform work
Appliance
The socket or receptacle where an electrical plug is inserted to draw power
Outlet
A component that produces light by using electricity
Bulb
A simple drawing that visually demonstrates how various electrical parts are interconnected
Diagram
A simplified sign or drawing used in schematics to represent a specific circuit part
Symbol
It is a closed path through which an electric current can flow. It is constructed from different parts that operate and work together as a unit
Simple electrical unit
When a circuit path is entirely complete and unbroken, electricity flows seamlessly throughout it
Complete circuit
This continuous flow of electricity is what powers devices to perform their functions, such as lighting up a bulb
Powering devices
It provides the path where electric current flows from one component to another.
Electrical wire
It opens or closes the circuit to turn the flow of electricity on or off.
Switch
It gives electrical energy that pushes current through the circuit.
Battery
It supplies alternating current, where the flow of electricity changes direction.
It is a load that uses electrical energy to produce light.
Light bulb
It controls or limits the flow of electric current in the circuit.
Resistor
