including more sources that support one side over another

Bias by Story Selection

a pattern of highlighting news stories that coincide with your view, while ignoring stories of the opposing view

Bias by Placement

a pattern of placing news stories so as to downplay information supportive of opposing views

Bias by Labeling

1. giving people and groups extreme labels while leaving other people and groups unlabeled or with more mild labels

2. when a reporter not only fails to identify a liberal as a liberal or a conservative as a conservative, but describes the person or group with other positive labels

Bias by Spin

when the story has only one interpretation of an event or policy, to the exclusion of the other;
