method - step 1

place immersion heater into the central hole at the top of the block

place the thermometer into the smaller hole and put drops of oil into hole to make sure the thermometer is surrounded by heat

fully insulate block by wrapping it loosely with cotton wool

record temperature

connect the heater to the power supply and wait ten minutes

method - step 5

after 10 minutes the temperature will rise then cool

burn skin on hot immersion heater - dont touch while its hot and allow it to cool down before packing it away
