What was the Paris Peace Conference?
January 1919, 32 countries sent delegates - held in French palace of Versailles
Conference was to decide many issues around the world and resulted in six major new treaties - called the Versailles Settlement

What were the main provisions of the Treaty of Versailles?
Germany had to accept guilt for causing the war (War Guilt Clause).
Germany was required to pay reparations to the Allies.
Germany's military was significantly reduced, limiting its army to 100,000 troops.
Germany lost territory, including Alsace-Lorraine to France and parts of Prussia to Poland.
The League of Nations was established to promote peace, although Germany was initially excluded.
