what makes Gly, Cys, and Pro unique?
Gly is small and can fit in hydrophobic or hydrophilic environments. Cys is polar uncharged and can form
disulfide bonds (which are covalent); these bonds can be formed (oxidized) or broken (reduced). Pro has
hydrophobic character and can introduce kinks into protein chains, disrupting secondary structures.
