Radicalization of Neighborhoods

The clustering of similar racial and ethnic groups into crowded slums and neighborhoods that was brought on by industrialization at the beginning of the 20th century.

White Flight

A migratory process whereby many White residents, fearing racial integration, sold their houses in the city and fled to the suburbs.

Advanced Marginality

The severe spatial and social segregation of the ghetto’s residents, marked by their amputation from america’s economic prosperity, national security, collective imagination and memory, and state services.

Environmental Racism

Any environmental practice, policy, or directive that disproportionately disadvantages non-white communities.
