One-way ANOVA
A statistical method used to test differences between three or more group means.
Null Hypothesis (H0)
The hypothesis that states there is no effect or no difference; in ANOVA, it asserts that all group means are equal.
Alternative Hypothesis (H1)
The hypothesis that states there is an effect or difference; it suggests that at least one group mean is different.
F-statistic
The ratio of variance between the groups to variance within the groups; used to determine if the group means are significantly different.
P-value
The probability of observing the test results under the null hypothesis; used to determine statistical significance in hypothesis testing.
Post hoc tests
Additional tests conducted after ANOVA to determine which specific group means are different.
Assumptions of ANOVA
The conditions that must be met for the ANOVA test to be valid, including independence, normality, and homogeneity of variance.
Homogeneity of Variance
An assumption of ANOVA that states that the variances among the groups being compared should be approximately equal.
Independence
An assumption of ANOVA that the samples should be independent of each other.
Normality
An assumption of ANOVA that the distribution of the residuals should be approximately normally distributed.
