Body

Topic Sentence
A sentence that states the main idea of a paragraph.
Details
Facts or information that support a topic sentence.
Evidence
Facts, data, or quotes used to support details.
Conclusion
The ending section that restates the thesis and provides closing thoughts.
Information
Facts provided or learned about something or someone.
Information Gathering
The act of obtaining various kinds of information for a particular reason.
Listening
The act of hearing with attention; informational listening focuses on understanding rather than judging.
Reading
The act of looking at and understanding written material.
Interviews
Structured or informal conversations used to collect information from someone.
Questioning
Asking questions to obtain information.
Questionnaires
A set of questions designed to collect information from respondents.
Observation
The act of watching and noting phenomena or behaviors.
Study of Existing Reports
Reviewing previously published reports to gather information.
Outlining
A planning method that organizes information into main topics and subtopics using hierarchical symbols.
Mind Mapping
A visual diagram linking related ideas around a central keyword.
