Gender Issues

Sex

Mass media

where women are portrayed as dependent victims of sorts while men are seen as courageous, principled, and determined. In ads, Women are portrayed as housewives while men work for the family.

Religion

Catholicism and Islam teach woman to be faithful to their men. For Catholics, women are supposed to be good housewives, while Muslims practice purdan.

Language

the **subtlest institution** in the socialization of gender.

Marriage

a **special contract** or permanent union between a man an woman

Void Marriages

**not valid** from its commencement marriage. **Invalid from the very start.**

Voidable Marriages

valid until annulled, it can be assailed collaterally in a process of proceeding.
