Estimate
To find an approximate value by rounding to a single digit and a power of ten.
Scientific Notation
A way of expressing numbers as a product of a number between 1 and 10 and a power of ten.
Power of Ten
An expression of the form 10^n where n is an integer, used to indicate the scale of a number.
Square Root
A value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the original number.
Cube Root
A number that produces a given number when cubed (multiplied by itself three times).
Exponent
A mathematical notation indicating the number of times a number (the base) is multiplied by itself.
Combine Like Terms
To simplify an expression by adding or subtracting terms that have the same variables raised to the same powers.
Estimate the Value of 82,900,000
Approximately 8 × 10^7.
Value of 0.0000068 in Scientific Notation
7 × 10^-6.
Combined Steps by Becca and Alex
23,580 + 2.42 × 10^4 = 4.778 × 10^4.
0.000005 in Scientific Notation
5 × 10^-6.
Representation of 10,500,000,000 in Scientific Notation
1.05 × 10^10.
Properties of Exponents
Rules that detail how to handle mathematical operations involving exponents.
Equivalent Expressions
Expressions that have the same value.
True or False Statements in Mathematics
Statements that need validation to check their correctness.
Simplifying Expressions
The process of rewriting an expression in a simpler form.
