CRITERIA IN SELECTING A RESEARCH TOPIC
It should be something new or different from what has already been written about.
It must be original.
It should be significant to the field of study or discipline.
It must be necessarily arouse intellectual curiosity.
It should be of researcher’s interest and researcher must be with the topic
It should be a modest one for a beginner to be carried on within a limited period of time.
It should be specific, not general
It should be clear, not ambiguous
It should consider the training and personal qualifications of the researcher.
It should consider the availability of data involved in the study and the methods and techniques to be employed in gathering them
It should consider the availability of effective instruments for gathering the data and their treatment.
It should consider the financial capacity of the researcher to support the project.
It should consider the time factor involved in the undertaking
GUIDELINES IN WRITING A RESEARCH TITLE
Include important keywords and variables of the study
Capitalize all nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs as well as the first letter of the first and last words.
Avoid the use of jargons or abbreviations not common to many.

Write and italicize the full scientific names
Be mindful of the proper use of grammar and punctuation
Do not include words like “The study of”, “Analysis of”, “An investigation of” or similar construction as these would only lengthen the title.

A catchy main title should be followed by a subtitle that gives information about the content and method of the study
Limit your research title to 10-15 substantive words.
