Gestalt principles
Set of principles that refers to the the way the brain perceives features of a visual image.
Visual perception principles
fundamental rule or guideline that explains how the human brain organises and interperates visual stimuli.
Figure-ground
organisation of parts of visual image with centre focus and background through identifying the contour.

Ambiguous or reversable figure
Occur when the we attribute contour to both figure and ground, allowing them to both be seen as legitimate options.
Camoflauge
When we can not easily identify contour, restricting our ability to differentiate between figure and ground.

The boundary that separates figure and ground (belonging of the figure)
closure
mentally filling in or ignoring visual gaps in image to perceive it as a whole.
simmilarity
Perceiving parts of visual stimulus which share similar features as belonging together in a whole.
proximity
Perceiving parts of visual image that are positioned closer together as belonging in the same group.
