Mangrove Swamp

An aquatic biome mostly found along sheltered tropical and subtropical coastlines, featuring shallow water around $1\text{-}2\,\text{meters}$ and high light availability, temperatures of $25\text{-}30\,^\circ\text{C}$, indicator plants including Red, White, and Black mangrove, and indicator animals including Mudskipper, heron, and Mangrove Craab.

Freshwater Wetlands

An aquatic biome located on every continent except Antarctica, with water depths of $2\text{-}15\,\text{ft}$ where light only reaches the top layer, a maximum temperature of $32\,^\circ\text{C}$, indicator plants including Golden Club, Hooded Pitcher plant, and Pont -Cypress, and indicator animals including Beavers, Bass, sunfish, and dragonflies.

Coral Reef

An aquatic biome found in subtropical areas near the equator, with abundant sunlight, depths of about $1\,\text{m}\text{-}60\,\text{m}$, temperatures of $20\,^\circ\text{C}\text{-}30\,^\circ\text{C}$, indicator plants including Zooxanthellae, seagrasses, and marine turf algae, and indicator animals including Corals, sea anemones, and clownfish.

Intertidal Zone

An aquatic biome located anywhere the ocean meets land, with abundant sunlight due to shallowness (around $2\text{-}4\,\text{meters}$ deep), temperatures of $28\,^\circ\text{C}\text{-}32\,^\circ\text{C}$, indicator plants including Kelp, saw Wrack, and spiral wrack, and indicator animals including Barnacles, crabs, and Sea stars.

Salt Marshes

An aquatic biome located along the Atlantic with high light availability, temperatures of $5\text{-}25\,\text{C}$, indicator plants including Smooth cordgrass, salt grass, and glass wort, and indicator animals including Fiddler crabs, great blue heron, and marsh wren.

Streams & Rivers

An aquatic biome extending from mountains to oceans with high light availability that decreases deeper down, temperatures of $10\text{-}20\,\text{C}$, indicator plants including Algae, waterweed, and willow tree, and indicator animals including Rainbow trout, crayfish, and river otter.

Lakes & Ponds

An aquatic biome found worldwide containing Littoral, limnetic, and Produndal zones, where lakes are usually deeper than ponds and little light reaches the profundal zone, with surface temperatures of $20\text{-}25\,\text{C}$ and deeper temperatures of $4\text{-}10\,\text{C}$, indicator plants including Cattails, algae, and Phytoplankton, and indicator animals including Sunfish, Perch, and Bass.

Profundal Zone

A deep zone within the Lakes & Ponds biome (also spelled Produndal zone in the notes) that receives little light.

Littoral Zone

One of the primary depth and light availability zones identified within the Lakes & Ponds biome.

Limnetic Zone

One of the primary depth and light availability zones identified within the Lakes & Ponds biome, alongside the littoral and profundal zones.
