No needs to be placed at the beginning of the sentence.

examples:

It isn't necessary.

No es necesario.

There isn't a restaurant.

No hay un restaurante.

I don't have my credit card.

No tengo mi tarjeta.

neither / also

tampoco / también

nothing / something / everything

nada / algo / todo (toda)

never / always

nunca / siempre

nobody / somebody

nadie / alguien

I don't have a reservation either.

No tengo una reservación tampoco.

I want to go too.

Quiero ir también.

I don't want to go either.

No quiero ir tampoco.

you cannot use a double negative in English.

This is not the case in Spanish.

No tengo un coche nunca.

I never have a car.

I always have a car.

Tengo un coche siempre.

I never have a car.

No tengo un coche nunca.

She has something.

Ella tiene algo.

She doesn't have anything.

Ella no tiene nada.

Somebody is arriving.

Alguien llega.

Nobody is arriving.

No llega nadie.

I don't want anything right now, and she doesn't want anything either.

No quiero nada ahora mismo y ella no quiere nada tampoco.
