student must wash hands with soap and running water and dry with a disposable towel and throw it away

remove adhesive bandage and antibiotic cream from first aid kit

if injury is on the hand, assist client to sink, have them wash the punctured area with soap and running water and dry with a disposable towel and throw it away

step 7

student must apply protective gloves

step 8

if injury was not on the hand it must be cleansed with an antibiotic cream

step 9

offer or assist to clean the injured area with antibiotic cream and offer an adhesive bandage

step 10

throw away all single use items

step 11

remove implements from work station then properly clean and disinfect implements

step 12

clean and disinfect station

step 13

remove gloves from hands and throw them away

step 14

wash hands with soap and water and dry with a disposable towel and throw it away

step 15

apply gloves and return to service
