Disability
A mental or physical condition that impacts how the body works or development
Individual Education Plan (IEP)
required by federal law to ensure each child with a diagnosed disability receives appropriate education
Individual Family Service Plan (IFS)
includes the family’s needs in regards to enhancing the child’s development, goals for the child, services to be provided to the child and/or family, and a plan for transitioning the child to other services. Also offered to at risk 3 year olds.
Developmental Disability
usually diagnosed in infancy/childhood, impacting language, learning,physical abilities, socialization, and behavior, and usually lasts a lifetime and affects day-to-day functioning
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
Federal law requiring all states to provide education and support for children who are developmental delayed. All 3-5 year old children with Disabilities that requires special educational services must be provided with individual Education programs. Also, at risk 3 year olds
