What is cloud computing?
The delivery of computing services over the internet, enabling faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale.
What is a private cloud?
A cloud environment created by an organization within its own datacenter, where the organization is responsible for operating the services and access is limited to internal users.
What is a public cloud?
A cloud environment owned by a cloud services or hosting provider, offering resources and services to multiple organizations and users, accessed via a secure network connection.
What is a hybrid cloud?
A combination of public and private clouds that allows applications to run in the most appropriate location based on the organization's needs.
What is CapEx?
Capital expenditure, which involves the up-front spending of money on physical infrastructure with costs that reduce over time.
What is OpEx?
Operational expenditure, which involves spending on products and services as needed on a pay-as-you-go basis with immediate billing.
What is consumption-based model?
A pricing model where end users only pay for the resources they actually use, allowing for better cost prediction.
List cloud benefits.
High availability, Elasticity, Scalability, Reliability, Predictability, Security, Governance, Manageability
What is IaaS?
Infrastructure as a service, which provides pay-as-you-go IT infrastructure by renting servers, virtual machines, storage, networks, and operating systems from a cloud provider.
What is PaaS?
Platform as a service, which provides an environment for building, testing, and deploying software applications without managing the underlying infrastructure.
What is SaaS?
Software as a service, where users connect to and use cloud-based apps over the internet, such as Microsoft Office 365.
In the shared responsibility model, what are customers always responsible for?
Information and data, devices (mobiles and PCs), and accounts and identities.
Comparing IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, which one is the most flexible cloud service?
IaaS. You configure and manage the hardware for your application.
Comparing IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, which one allows for focus on application development?
PaaS. Platform management is handled by the cloud provider.
Comparing IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, which service type uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model?
SaaS. Users pay for the software they use on a subscription model.
