What are the three things that make up EBP?

systematic review

A research technique in which subjects are randomly assigned to an experimental or control group. The results for each group are statistically compared to identify any differencs.

randomized clinical trial

Two groups, one receives treatment and one does not, are studied forward over time to determine the impact of treatment.

cohort studies

Groups are studied from a historical perspective. Differences between patients with the specified condition and without the specified condition are identified.

case control studies

A report on a series of patients with a particular condition; no control group is used.

case series

An opinion based on general principles and clinical experience.
