Equation
A statement that shows two things are equal.
Inequality
A math sentence that show one value is bigger, smaller, or just not equal to another.
Solution
A specific value of set or values that makes an equation or inequality true.
Variable
A letter used to represent an unknown quantity.
Algebraic expression
An expression that contains variables, numbers, and operations, but does not contain an equal sign or inequality symbol.
Compound Inequalities
Two inequalities joined by the word “and” or “or”
No Solution
There is no number or value you can put in for a variable that makes the equation true.
Infinitely many solutions
An equation that has an endless number of values that makes the statement true.
