The mediastinum
The region in the middle of the thoracic cavity between the lungs. It contains the pericardial cavity, great vessels and portions of the trachea, esophagus and thymus.
Abdominopelvic cavity includes the:
abdominal cavity (stomach and intestines) + lower pelvic cavity (bladder and reproductive organs).
Serous membranes
Line the ventral body cavities and organs inside. Are specialized moist membranes between organelles.

Lubricating fluid between the two serous membranes

Membrane lining the cavity wall (part of serous)
Visceral serosa
Membrane covering the organs
Mesothelium
Layer of squamous epithelium that covers the sheet of connective tissue that makes up the serous membrane
