Critical Regions
Areas associated with alpha where if the P-Value falls within, we reject H0.
One-tailed Distribution
A distribution where the critical region is in one tail, usually the last 5%.
Two-tailed Distribution
A distribution where the critical regions are in both extremes, with 2.5% on each side.
Z-Crit
The critical z-score associated with alpha, used for comparison with Z-Obt.
Alpha
The threshold for significance, commonly set at 0.05.
Z-Obt
The calculated z-score from the sample data.
Statistically Significant
A result is considered statistically significant if H0 is rejected, indicating that results are unlikely due to chance.
When to use Z-Tests
Use Z-Tests when variables are interval or ratio scale, randomly selected, population distribution is normal, and population mean and standard deviation are known.
Reject H0
To dismiss the null hypothesis when Z-Obt surpasses Z-Crit.
Retain H0
To not reject the null hypothesis when Z-Obt does not surpass Z-Crit.
