What is Ground Effect?

When $**lift increases**$ and $**drag decreases**$ due to the wings being close to the ground.

When an airplane is low over a surface, such as a RWY:

* Wingtip vortices are reduced because they’re physically blocked from reaching top of wing.
* This increases lift and reduces drag.
* Allowing plane to fly at a slower speed with less power.
