Validity
valid-when a test measures what it claims to measure.
-lacks validity when a test doesn’t measure what it claims to measure.
What are the 2 things that effect validity?
Extraneous variables can affect validity.
When a test doesn’t measure what it claims to measure
What are the 2 ways of Measuring validity?
Face validaty?
-we are looking at face of the test if it look like a good test.
Concurrent validaty?
Comparing the results from one test to results from another test mesuring the same behaviour known to be valid.
Reliable studies
-if the results are consistent every time the experiment is repeated
A study is reliable when?
When the results are sonsistent every time the study is repeated
What can make a study lack reliability?
-extraneous variables
-the questionnaire or the test is unreliable-if the test or questionnaire use to measure the dependant reliable is its unreliable
What is internal reliability?
How consistent the individual items on a test or questionnaire are with each poother
What is external reliability?
How can consistent the results of the test are every repeated.time it is end
What is high internal reliability?
When the (e.g the questionaire) give the same results it has a HIR.
Low internal reliability?
But if all answers reveal totally different results than the questionaire has LKIR.
What is the split half method?
Test internal reliability by splitting test items into 2 to see if the results are consistent across the two halves of the test.
What is the test retest method?
When the researcher has done the experiment 2 different times when doing the test retest method the particip0ants must use the same participants
