Controller Definition
1.A device that provides the output to the controlled device
2.Helps maintain desired conditions, optimize perfomance, prevent damage, automate processes, and ensure safety and comfort
Controller Operation
1.Controls an output signal to the controlled device
2.Sensor and controller are often integrated into the same device
3.Controller sends the correct signal to the device to be controlled
4.Sensor senses various parameters temperature, air velocity, humidity, water level, pressure
5.Controller convert sensor input into an output signal for the controlled device, which could be air or an electric signal
Temperature Regulation
Monitor and controls temperature levels within the building
Recieves input from temperature sensors in different zones
Adjusts heating and cooling equipment to maintain desired temperature setpoints
Humidity Controls
Regulate humidity levels within the building important for comfort and preventing mold growth and moisture damage
Airflow Management
Manages airflow to ensure proper ventilation and distribution of conditoned air
Control dampers, fans, and other components for maintaining desired air quality and comfort levels
Energy Efficiency Optimization
Include features aimed at optimizing energy efficiency
Involve scheduling operations based on occupancy patterns
Adjusting setpoints dynamically based on external conditons
Integrating with other building systems like lightining and occupancy sensors to minimize energy usage while maintaining comfort
Fault Detection and Diagnostic
Monitors HVAC equipment and sensors for perfomance
Detects malfunction or deviation from expected operation
Provides alert or notification to maintenance personnel
Includes diagnostic capabilitiles to identify root causes of issues
Integration with Building Automation Systems
Integrates with broader building automation system (BAS)
Allows centralized monitoring and controls of mulitiple building system
Enables more coordinated and efficient operation
