parent engagement/parental involvement

the participation of parents in regular, two-way, meaningful communication with their children

authoritative parenting

A parenting style that encourages the child to be independent but that still places limits and controls on behavior.

authoritarian parenting

style of parenting marked by emotional coldness, imposing rules and expecting obedience

permissive parenting

A parenting style characterized by the placement of few limits on the child's behavior.

uninvolved\neglectful parenting

A style of parenting in which the parents minimize both the time they spend with their children and their emotional involvement with them and provide for their children's basic needs, but little else.

a parent who pays extremely close attention to a child's or children's experiences and problems, particularly at educational institutions
