Anterior
front of the body
Rostral
nose end of the head
Cephalic
pretaining to the head
Superior
uppermost, above or toward the head
Proximal
nearest the midline or begining of the sturcture
Palmar
the caudal surface of the manus (front paw) inclduing the carpus
Posterior
near the rear if tge body
Plantar
caudal surface of the rear paw, including the tarsus
Inferior
lowermost, below or toward the tail
Distal
farthest from midline or beginning of the structure
Midsagittal plane
divides body into equal right and left parts
Sagittal plane
divides the body into unequal right and left parts
Dorsal (frontal) plane
divides the body into dorsal and ventral parts
Transverse plane
divides body into cranial and caudal parts
