X-Ray Tube
An apparatus used to produce X-rays, consisting of a cathode and an anode.
Filament
A coil of thoriated tungsten that produces electrons when heated to thermionic emission.
Thermionic Emission
The release of electrons from a heated filament.
Cathode Assembly
Contains the filament(s) and focusing cup, responsible for producing the electron beam.
Focusing Cup
A component that directs the electron beam towards the anode, usually negatively charged.
Anode Assembly
Part of the X-ray tube that serves as the target for electrons, conducts high voltage, and dissipates heat.
Rotating Anode
An anode that spins to distribute heat and improve X-ray production.
Line Focus Principle
A method used to create a smaller effective focal spot for improved image quality.
Anode Heat Loading
The ability of the anode to withstand and dissipate heat generated during X-ray production.
Leakage Radiation
Radiation that escapes from the tube housing due to failure of shielded materials.
