Commercial Credit (Banking)

Role Summary

A structured 4-month entry-level program designed to launch a career in Commercial Banking with exposure to credit analysis, portfolio management, and client support.

Program Transition

Upon successful completion of the program, Fellows transition into the Portfolio Specialist role.

State Portfolio Manager.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Leadership.

Academic Foundation Expected

Strong coursework background in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Financial Accounting.

Cross-Departmental Exposure

Job shadowing and collaborative experiences across various bank departments to learn credit principles, lending, underwriting, and risk management.

Training & Compliance Duties

Participation in all required program training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) and industry seminars.

Project-Based Learning

Contributing to assignments designed by program facilitators to foster continuous learning and professional development.

Relationship Management Duty

Building and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives.

Tech Savvy Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and comfort using modern workplace technology.

Foundational Knowledge Required

General understanding of the financial services industry, including basic banking principles and credit fundamentals.

Analytical Thinking Skill

Strong observational and analytical skills to assess data, identify trends, and support sound decision-making.

Critical Thinking Skill

Ability to evaluate information thoughtfully, conduct thorough research, and make evidence-based decisions.

Community Engagement Requirement

Demonstrated involvement in campus and/or community impact events.
