Pollination
The process of transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma.
Anthers
Part of the stamens that produce a powdery material called pollen.
Pollen Grain
A particle containing two sperm nuclei that participate in reproduction.
Sperm Nuclei
Two reproductive components located within each pollen grain.
Autogamy
A type of pollination where the pollen of the same flower falls on its own stigma (self-marriage).
Geitonogamy
A type of pollination where the pollen of another flower of the same plant falls on the stigma (neighbouring).
Allogamy
The transfer of pollen from a flower of another plant of the same species to the stigma, also known as cross pollination.
Stamens
The male organs of a flower that produce pollen.
Agents of Pollination
Entities such as wind, insects, or water that facilitate the transfer of pollen grains.
Step 1 of Fruit/Seed Formation
The requirement that pollen grains must reach the stigma.
