What is essential to the "preservation of liberty?" How should this "be so constituted?"

That each department should have a will of its own. The members of each should have as little agency as possible in the appointment of the members of the others.

Explain the following: "a dependence upon the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions."

The government relies on the people it governs. Therefore, the people also see the necessity of the government and its additional policies.

In a republican government, which branch is strongest? Identify three ways of "remedying this inconvenience."

The legislative branch is the most powerful in a republican government. To remedy this, the legislature must be divided into different branches, after so, each house must be given different means of election. To remedy this, the executive branch is fortified, or given the power to veto over the legislative branch.

Lost two ways in which the federal system of the US "places that system in a very interesting point of view." (Ex: protects against tyranny)

One way is to have the people surrender all of the power to a single government. The other way is to, not only guard society against its rulers, but to guard one part of society from the injustice of the other part of society.
