Which organs are a part of the respiratory system?
nose, mouth, trachea, lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, diaphragm
What is the basic function of this system
Exchange of gases
What does your body get rid of every time you breath out (exhale)?
Carbon dioxide and water :)
What is the specific function of the respiratory system?
To allow the exchange of oxygen gas and carbon gas to occur
What is the difference between the bronchus and bronchioles
The bronchus is the main airway, while the bronchioles are the smaller ones which branch out from the airway to the alveoli.
What are capillaries?
Tiny blood vessels surrounding the alveoli.

Explain how cells in our toes receive oxygen from the air.
First, we breathe in, the air travels from our mouth or nose through the pharynx, larynx, trachea, and bronchi (left or right )where O2 goes through the smaller tubes aka bronchioles which lead into the alveoli. The air fills the alveolus. O2 goes into the deoxygenated blood and the CO2 goes to the alveolus. The blood carries the O2 around the body to the cells which is how cells in our toes receive oxygen.

Exhalation
What directions do the ribs move during inhalation?
Up and out
What directions does the diaphragm move during inhalation?
Contracts and moves down
What happens to the lungs during inhalation?
The lung volume increases, lung pressure decreases
What directions do the ribs move during exhalation?
fall or down and back
What directions does the diaphragm move during exhalation?
relaxes/ moves up
What happens to the lungs during exhalation?
The lung volume decreases, lung pressure increases
Which gas is inhaled? Exhaled?
