Ball and socket joint
Ball shaped socket, complete range of motion, located in shoulder and hip.

Condyloid joint.
Oval shaped joint, wrist joint between radius and carpals.

Gliding joint (Plane joint)
Articulating, usually flat, surfaces. Gliding Nonaxial movement. Between wrist bones.

Hinge joint
Spool shaped surface that fits into concave surface. Elbow, knee, ankle and finger joints. Like door hinge.

Pivot joint
Arch shaped surface that rotates around rounded pivot. For rotation. Located at the base of your skull.

Saddle joint
Saddle shaped surface that fits into a socket curved in the opposite direction. Found in the thumb.

Synovial joints
fluid-filled cavity that cushions and separates articulating bones.
Immovable joints
Joint where bones are connected by fibrous connective tissue. Such as sutures in the skull.
Semi-movable joints
Joint where bones are joined by hyaline cartilage or fibrocartilage. Such as the spine.
Freely movable joints
Joint where bones are connected through a fluid filled joint cavity. Such joints consist of hip and shoulder joint.
