why is the scheme needed?

  • there are no coal mines in nepal- unable to drill for fossil fuels

  • nepal is landlocked- hard to import fossil fuels

how will this work?

  • water from streams/rivers chanelled to a forebay tank- ensures a steady flow of water reaches the turbines which turn + generate electricity

    • no need for expensive dams/ reservoirs

    • reduces flooding risk, not an ‘eye-sore’
