affordable for community- appropiate to skills of local community
stable renewable energy source- attracts businesses- increases money in local economies
why is the scheme needed?
there are no coal mines in nepal- unable to drill for fossil fuels
nepal is landlocked- hard to import fossil fuels
how will this work?
water from streams/rivers chanelled to a forebay tank- ensures a steady flow of water reaches the turbines which turn + generate electricity
no need for expensive dams/ reservoirs
reduces flooding risk, not an ‘eye-sore’
