What do single celled organisms have
A large SA:V ratio
The need for transport system
As organisms get bigger, the disrances between cells get greater, therefore organisms need a specialised transport system to move substances around body
Adaptations to maximise effectiveness of exchange surfaces
Thin - short distance to diffuse
Large surface area- lots of substance can diffuse at once
Good blood supply - maintains concentration gradient
Moist- gases/ soluble substances dissolve.
What does blood contain
Contains plasma, there are rbc, wbc platelets, hormones, waste products and ddissolved nutrients in them
