Stratification
The creation of layers of people who possess unequal shares of valuable resources
Aristocracy
Old money families of immense wealth who exert outsized control over a nation

something that is surprising or unreasonable in amount/size when compared to something else

acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers and exploiting it economically

a social construct (NOT biological) that groups people based on skin color and has real consequences

the stronger race will become powerful and wealthy, while others remain poor
Racism
the belief in the inherent superiority of one race over all others and thereby the right to dominance
Institutional Racism
when racist beliefs are turned into systems for profit and control in the form of laws, customs, and rules
Ethnicity
cultural identity based upon the nations/countries of our ancestors and carries a genetic marker
Ethnocentrism
the attitude that one’s own group, ethnicity, or nationality is superior
Nationality
the nation in which you live, are naturalizing, or where you are a citizen
Xenophobia
the hatred and mistreatment of immigrants
Class consciousness
referring to an individuals awareness of their social status
False class conciousness
adopting beliefs, values, and ideologies that support capitalist systems, even when they work against you
Minorities
people with less numbers and power in a society
Poverty
the state of being extremely poor
