it’s supposed to be a safe haven for Roman Catholics, puritans changed the law to have a death penalty for non-christians

to make a haven for people who had been in jail in England because they couldn’t pay for their debts. No attacks from spain were allowed

Northern states focused on manufacturing and trade while Southern states focused on agriculture and slave/indentured servant labor.
