Graphic Design
The art or profession of visual communication that combines images, words, and ideas to convey information to an audience.
Designer
Relies heavily on research, established guidelines, and paramters. Often work with clients and projects to which they use their skills to create aesthetically pleasing output.
Artist
Relies heavily on the message and emotion they wanted to convey to their audience.
Elements of Design
THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF ANY PIECE OF DESIGN AND CONSIDERED AS FUNDAMENTAL COMPONENTS OF ANY VISUAL REPRESENTATION.
Line
It is a continous mark on a surface which may be illustrated horizontally, diagonally, vertically or to contour an irregular shape. it is an element of art with width and length, but no depth.
Shape
Refers to a two-dimensional element with an area on a plane. It has lenght and width. It can be geometric and organic in form.
Form
A three dimensional element with volume in space. It has length, width, depth, and all forms of shapes.
Color
Visible spectrum of radiation reflected from an object. It refers to specific hues used in design.
Size
Refers to the relationship of the area around or between the elements.
Space
The distance or area around or between the elements in a design.
Texture
Refers to the surface quality of a shape or how it feels to appear: rough, smooth, soft, hard, or glossy.
Value
Refers to the difference between light and darkness of a color. It is also referred to as the tone.
